Bodrum's gulets were built for families before anyone called it a holiday: 4–8 cabins, a wide shaded deck, a swim platform at the stern and a crew who cook, anchor and keep an eye on the children in the water. The distances are short, so nobody is stuck on a passage, and the Gulf of Gökova offers sheltered anchorages such as Cleopatra Island and English Harbour where the sea is calm enough for the youngest swimmers. The Gulf of Gökova is the family side of Bodrum, quiet and green with no beach club noise, while the peninsula's north coast is livelier and better saved for an evening ashore. June and September are cooler than August for small children and offer more choice of gulets. Milas-Bodrum Airport is about 45 minutes from Milta Bodrum Marina, short enough for a tired toddler.
