Summer birthdays in Bodrum are best planned around the meltem: mornings are calm, so we schedule the Orak Island swim early and keep the afternoon for sheltered bays or the beach clubs at Türkbükü, where the party continues ashore. July and August are peak and the best yachts go first, so book a couple of weeks out; June and September have the same weather and more choice. Milas-Bodrum Airport is around 45 minutes away, so friends flying in for the weekend can be on board the next morning.
