The Gulf of Gökova is why honeymooners choose Bodrum over a resort. The peninsula itself is lively in July and August, with DJ afternoons in Türkbükü and a full superyacht marina at Yalıkavak, but a few hours east the gulf is green, still and almost empty. Summer afternoons bring the meltem, which gulets use for sailing and motor yachts simply outrun to the next sheltered bay. June and September are our first recommendation for honeymoons: same sea temperature, more choice of yachts, quieter anchorages.

Seven nights lets you reach the far side of the Gulf of Gökova without rushing. Five nights covers Cleopatra Island and English Harbour comfortably. If you only have a long weekend, three nights around Orak Island, Karaada and Gümüşlük still feels like a proper honeymoon.
