The season runs from April to November, and the quieter months at either end suit an anniversary best: warm evenings, calm water in the gulf and fewer boats around the Lara cliffs. In midsummer the heat lingers into the evening, so a departure closer to sunset with dinner served after dark is more comfortable. The Bey Mountains drop straight into the sea west of the city, which is why the sunset from the water is so sharp: the ridge cuts the light off cleanly and the afterglow lasts long enough for dessert.
